01Published standards
Each company’s centering figures, front and back.
The larger border’s share of the two, on each axis unless a row says otherwise, as each company publishes it for Pokémon and other trading cards. ≈ marks a figure the company calls approximate. Every row links its publisher’s page; the figures are as of October 21, 2026.
How a reading meets a figure: a whole-number figure covers readings less than half a point above it (55/45 covers 55.4/44.6, not 55.5/44.5); a figure with a decimal, such as 62.5/37.5, is exact; no margin is added where a company calls a figure approximate. A reading close to a figure shows two decimals.

02How it works
How centering is measured.
The ratio on each axis is one border’s share of the two borders. GradeVu flattens the card through its edges, reads the borders at five points along each edge, and shows the least centred point at one decimal, larger share first. It is the same arithmetic the GradeVu app uses on scans.
Check the lines
The lines are placed for you, and the reading shows straight away. To move one, tap the card or Adjust lines: every line can be dragged, nudged by half a pixel or moved with the arrow keys, with a magnifier to place it. A line marked Check is one the detector is unsure of: look at it before you trust the reading. Card edges sets the card’s real corners when a sleeve, a holder or the background got in the way.
Close call
“Close call” means moving any one line by a single pixel of your photo would change that company’s estimate. A larger, sharper photo narrows it.
Privacy
GradeVu opens your photo, finds the lines and makes the share image right here in your browser. The photo is never uploaded or stored, and the page keeps nothing: no cookies, no storage, no analytics. Its security policy lets it contact one address, the waitlist form, which takes your email address and, if you pick one, your role. Your image is shared only if you share it.
For the best reading
- Turn the flash off. Glare on a border can move its line.
- Lay the card flat on a plain, dark or light background, with all four edges in the photo.
- Fill the frame with the card. Each pixel is a finer step when the card is large in the photo.
- Take the card out of its sleeve or holder if you can.

03Questions
Questions.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is opened, measured and drawn in your browser, and the page can’t send it anywhere: its security policy allows one connection, the waitlist form, which takes your email address and, if you pick one, your role. Nothing is stored, not even on this device.
What centering does PSA allow for a 10?
PSA’s published figure for a Gem Mint 10 is about 55/45 on the front and about 75/25 on the back, on each axis. PSA calls these figures approximate and says visual assessment and eye appeal may affect the final grade. The PSA table lists every grade.
Why are back limits looser?
Where a company gives a back figure, it allows more difference between the two borders than its front figure does. Some give a back figure only for their top grades, and one top figure doesn’t say which side it covers; the tables above show what each company publishes.
Why does my photo give a different ratio from a ruler?
A ruler reads one point on each border by eye. GradeVu flattens the card, reads five points along each edge from the photo’s pixels and shows the least centred one, so a card printed slightly crooked reads further from even than its middle does. A tilted, curved or soft photo can still move the lines, so check them against the printed border.
What do “Close call” and “Check” mean?
“Check” marks a line the detector is unsure of. “Close call” means one pixel on any line would change that company’s estimate. Both are reasons to look closely, or to take a larger, sharper photo.
Does this work on sleeves, toploaders or slabs?
Take the card out if you can. Through a sleeve or a toploader the detector can take the holder’s edge for the card’s edge; if it does, use Card edges to set the card’s own corners. In a slab, set the card edges inside the case, not the case or its label.
